Art Collector's Penthouse

The owner's lives are inseparable from their mid-century modern art and furniture collection. Starting with the blank canvas of a two story penthouse shell with 360 degree sweeping views of the ocean and the city beyond, it was the architect's challenge to create an environment that functioned both as a showcase for the owner's evolving collection - and for living and entertaining. The owner, architect, and interior design team worked closely together to create an atmosphere of subtle sophistication. State of the art lighting, mechanical systems, custom-built cabinetry, and modern minimalist detailing were utilized. Finishes include stained and polished concrete floors, wood accent wall panels, stainless steel baseboards, and a staircase of Japanese ash and stainless steel. The team worked closely with lighting and other trade specialists to ensure future flexibility to accommodate the changing collection.
